BYO proxy

Default Incogsurf provisions a sticky NL ISP-static proxy per profile via the PlainProxies API. If you have an existing contract with another provider — Bright Data, Oxylabs, IPRoyal, your in-house pool — bring it in here.

What we need from your provider

  • Sticky session credentials. Rotating proxies mid-session break the persona. Each profile pins to one session for its entire lifetime.
  • Residential or ISP-static. Datacenter ASNs get flagged on most fraud-scored sign-up surfaces.
  • NL exit by default. Pin to the country the identity belongs to. Cross-country mismatches (NL email + DE proxy) are one of the easiest tells.
  • HTTP or SOCKS5 transport. Both work. HTTPS tunnels are preferred for handshake parity.

Configure

Account → Settings → Manual proxy (fallback). Enter:

  • Host — e.g. premium-resi.brightdata.com or your provider's gateway.
  • Port — usually 22225 / 8000 / 1080 depending on transport.
  • Username — typically your account ID plus session-affinity parameters (brd-customer-...-session-xyz).
  • Password — provider API token or session password.

Click Test connection. We dial the proxy, request https://api.ipify.org?format=json, and surface the egress IP, ASN, and country. If the country is not NL, you'll get a yellow warning — not a hard fail, but worth a beat to fix.

Per-profile override

The manual proxy applies to every profile that doesn't have an auto-provisioned PlainProxies binding. To override for a single profile: profile detail → Use manual proxy toggle. Useful for the rare case where a specific persona needs a different egress (operator in NL, persona living abroad).

Rotating providers mid-flight

Don't. Switching proxy providers on an existing profile changes the egress IP / ASN / geolocation signature, which any half-decent abuse model treats as a session hijack. If you must change provider, retire the affected profiles and cycle in fresh ones with fresh identities.

Bandwidth metering

BYO proxies are not metered by our backend (we don't see your provider's invoice). Your tenant bandwidth quota still applies — Incogsurf counts bytes at the launcher layer for every profile launch, regardless of which proxy carried them. If you hit your quota with BYO, the launch gate denies new launches until the next billing cycle (or you upgrade).
